Awsome Simple Business Contact Manager

Review Date: June 13, 2008

Microsoft has done it again! Outlook with Business Contact Manager 2007 is a very solid, simple, and intuitive small business platform to work from. I have been in sales for over 10 years and have used a variety of solutions, including ACT and I like Business Contact Manager the best so far. If you enjoy actually selling as opposed to updating information continually, this is the solution for you. For instance, ACT has many useless and cumbersome bells and whistles that require input of information multiple times in multiple screens. Microsoft left these out...thankfully. In fact, I spent more time updating information in ACT than actually using it to be productive. Act is also prone to databases corruption. Our data in ACT was corrupted at least 2-3 times in a year. ACT Synchronization is finicky at best. And ACT integration to accounting software is cumbersome and expensive. Microsoft has trimmed the fat and created a very streamlined platform that gets the job done. No corruption of data thus far. Accounting software integration is a breeze-I use Microsoft Accounting 2007-also a very solid small business solution if you don't need automated Payroll-a less expensive option to QuickBooks. Only having to enter information once, simple customization, and seamless 2-way integration with accounting software is why I gave this a 5. It is not perfect but it is the best I have used thus far. Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed.
Works very well, even with my smart phone and pda

Flawless integration (once you download the add-in) with my pda or smart phone. I would recommend this over ACT 2008.

Since I do not have a Vista machine, I got help from an expert at Microsoft.

It's easy to install if you have Windows Vista. Otherwise, don't use Outlook 2007.

When I installed mine, I have email accounts on yahoo, comcast, other places that my friend Outlook goes out and gets the email so I can manage it all from one place. Great feature.

So Outlook is one stop shopping for many email accounts, but it also helps you keep track of client information, phone calls...all touches.

So in my internal "sales" role, I can see where people are at a glance in the commitment cycle. And I can do marketing campaigns directly from Outlook but I haven't used that feature.

Dislikes... sometimes it's a bit slow to load. I think that's more of Vista problem than anything.

I've been a strong advocate for Outlook. Great program, mature, plays well with other MSFT programs life Office and is the standard throughout businessland.

Sounds like this is stable and ready to use right out of the box -- and that says a lot for any new program

I went from a five year old version of Outlook and was shocked at the upgrades available in the 2007 package. This may be slight over kill for personal use, but even personal users will love what they are able to do with this package.

Small Business owners and managers, and particularly sales staff will find their lives much less complicated twith this software. After a couple of weeks, I'm really still learning my way around with it, but so far have found nothing about this software I am dissatisfied with.

I have had my new phone planned for a small business use. The phone was complicated to learn, and took me a few months to be familiar with it's many uses. I didn't have the money right away to purchase the Outlook 2007 software I needed, but since I have purchased it, everything works in-synch I have enjoyed the phone a great deal more! The software is wonderful on the PC, and calendar options and email, contacts - to have a back up of this material is perfect!

Thank you,

Sherille Raphael
